Jeff Campbell Releases Stop and Go - Live at Coast
Concert DVD features stunning performance at legendary San Francisco studio
San Francisco, CA--A Philadelphia native, Jeff Campbell moved to San Francisco in 2004 to make his mark on the city’s rock scene. Ten years later, he’s earning national recognition with his new DVD release, Stop and Go - Live at Coast.
As front man of the alt-rock band Pine and Battery, Campbell has enjoyed heavy airplay on San Francisco radio stations like KFOG and KQED. His onstage experiences have taken him up and down the West Coast, sharing the stage with members of Counting Crows, Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, and opening for the Grammy-winning band Train.
Campbell switched gears in early 2012 by releasing first-ever acoustic album, Stop and Go, a stripped-down record featuring guest performances from Megan Slankard, Brad Brooks, Austin Willacy and James DePrato. All of the musicians contributed to the songwriting, arrangement, and production process, turning Stop and Go into a collaborative project between some of the Bay Area’s best musicians. Later that year, Campbell brought a full band -- including four backup singers, a horn section, and a violinist -- into Coast Recorders, one of the oldest and most respected studios in San Francisco, for a live in-studio reproduction of the entire album.
Available in physical and digital form on Jeff Campbell’s website, Stop and Go - Live at Coast captures that live studio session in stunning, hi-fi clarity. The concert DVD was produced by Coast Recorder owner Michael Romanowski, who also chose to make Stop and Go the first release in a new series of Live at Coast recordings.
“Not many people have been able to attend a recording session and witness the process of making an album,” Romanowski explains. “Capturing these experiences is what the Live at Coast series is all about. Coast Recorders has been an integral part of the San Francisco studio scene since the late 1960s. Its live room has an aesthetic which musicians not only love to record in, but to perform in as well. Add a live audience to that, and the experience is incredible for all.”
